SHILLONG: The Seventh Economic Census will use mobile technology to ensure accuracy in data and will also engage Common Service Centers (CSCs).

The State Level Training of Trainers (SLTOT) was held on Friday at All Saints Cathedral Hall here.

Speaking to the media, State head, CSC SPV, J. Lyngdoh said previously the economic census was done manually. With the use of mobile technology, GIS Mapping system will be used to identify the location of the business establishment.

He informed that the training would be followed up with a lot of public awareness programmes before going into actual survey.

Asked, he said there are 800 CSCs across the state. CSC is a scheme of the government under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

A CSC enables people to get services at the doorstep such as to withdraw money, pension related matters etc. CSC e-governance is working to get people sensitized on CSCs.
