Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of the Janata Dal (United), which has won seven seats in the recently concluded Assembly polls, has extended unconditional outside support to Pema Khandu-led BJP Government in the state.
The unconditional outside support decision to the Pema Khandu Government was taken at the party’s state unit meeting here, attended by its leaders including the newly elected seven legislators, following direction from its national president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“We have got a letter this morning form our party’s national president (Nitish Kumar) to support the BJP-led Pema Khandu Government from outside. We will support the BJP Government from outside. We don’t have any condition or demand,” Techi Kaso, Arunachal JD(U) legislature party leader told reporters here on Friday.
While Ruhi Tagung, who is Arunachal JD (U) chief, said, “What party high command follows, the state JD(U) also follows it in the same spirit. Whatever Pema Khandu Government policies will be there, our seven MLAs will cooperate and stand together with the Government.”
Party’s newly elected MLA Hayeng Mangfi said, “JD (U) is a partner of NDA. As per the direction of the Central leadership, we are extending unconditional outside support to the Pema led Government.”
“We are not assuming the role of the Leader of the Opposition. We will be under the Pema Khandu led Government from outside,” he stated.
JD(U) emerged as the second largest party in the recently concluded Assembly polls by winning seven seats after BJP which bagged 41 seats. (UNI)
