Website for online order initiated under Na Ri banner

SHILLONG: The state government has launched free home delivery of milk and milk products in parts of the city.
The initiative is that of East Khasi Hills District Cooperative Milk Union Limited (Shillong Milk Union).
LS Shangpliang, Managing Director of Shillong Milk Union, said milk and its products are produced and marketed under Na Ri banner.
The Union has also opened a website www.narifresh.com to market the products especially aimed at home delivery.
Shangpliang said there will be prompt delivery of services after the order is made.
It was based on the AMUL model that the Union was formed to look after the welfare of dairy farmers.
The Union procures the excess milk produced by the dairy farmers which otherwise would have been wasted.
The milk and its varied products are processed and marketed to prevent the dairy farmers from being exploited by the middlemen.
In addition to online delivery, there are many retail shops set up by the Union in parts of the city.
The products available for home delivery are pasteurized low fat milk one pouch (Rs 20), pasteurized cow milk (Rs 26), low fat dahi (Rs 20) dahi (Rs 25), sweetened dahi (Rs 30), ghee (Rs 120), 250 gm butter (Rs 115), paneer and cream among other products.
Shangpliang said with the setting up of Directorate of Dairy Development, the government is also planning to open at least 10 milk parlours in parts of the city.
