Assault
Following a viral video showing the assault of one unidentified person by a group of local youth, Police conducted enquiry and learnt that the incident took place on Monday around 1pm in Ranikor, where one unidentified person was caught and detained by some local youth who also assaulted him. However, the unidentified person managed to escape. In this connection, Police have detained Teiborlang Marweiñ for interrogation. Investigation is on to apprehend all who were involved in the incident.
Bada Myrthong lodged a complaint stating that on June 2 around 10pm, while the complainant and her friends were returning from Mylliem in their vehicle (AS-01DV-0008), one Maruti Alto (ML-05G-6732) dashed against her vehicle at the tri-junction on the way to Umshyrpi. Later, the driver of the Alto blocked their way at Umshyrpi Bridge and on seeing that the complainant and her friends were all female, abused them and assaulted Verionica Thabah and the complainant. The complainant also stated that the accused attempted to run over Wandalang Nongkynrih with his vehicle.
Bernard N Marak of Kongbe A’ding, Tura, lodged a complaint stating that on May 29, Nerush Sangma, Tengsak Momin, Dalseng Momin, Sengbath Ch Marak and others assaulted his employee identified as Lasbath Shira at Tura Bazar in West Garo Hills. The complaint further stated that the accused persons were extorting money at the rate of Rs 350 per day from ‘Bawil Dawil’ counters and Rs 2,000 extra at the end of each month.
Drowning
Pynskhemborlang Mawlieh lodged a complaint stating that on Monday around 7:30pm, his brother Aiborskhemlang Mawlieh (32) drowned while fishing in a river at Phrohsyiar in West Khasi Hills. Necessary formalities were observed and the cadaver was handed over to the relatives.
Fraud
HL Nongsiang lodged a complaint stating that on June 2, he received an SMS informing him that an amount of Rs 29,999 was withdrawn from his HDFC account at HDFC Bank Nongstoin Branch in West Khasi Hills. During enquiry, it transpired that the amount was fraudulently withdrawn through online transaction by unknown miscreants.
Sanjay Kumar lodged a complaint stating that on May 6, an amount of Rs 60,000 was illegally transferred from his account to two accounts without his knowledge.
Theft
Mami Chinghoiniang lodged a complaint stating that on Tuesday around 9:30am, she discovered that unknown miscreants stole her scooty (ML-05Q-8925) which was parked at Happy Valley, Shillong.
Honny Pher Sohklet lodged a complaint stating that on Monday around 1pm, unknown miscreants stole his scooty (ML-05L-3650), which was parked in Wahingdoh.
Manoj Thakur of SP II/I, K. Line 58 GTC, Happy Valley, Shillong, lodged a complaint stating that on Monday around 11:15pm, he discovered that unknown miscreants had broken into his residence and stole jewelry valued at Rs 1,50,000, Rs 10,000 and three cell-phones.
Ajoy Nath lodged a complaint stating that on June 1, unknown miscreants stole his motorcycle (AS-25M-8740), which was parked at Bone Chisogre village in East Garo Hills.
Threat
A Kharsyntiew, Secy., Seng Longkmie New Nongstoin lodged a complaint stating that on Tuesday around 2:50pm, members of the Seng Longkmie apprehended one Mewvin Kharbani while he was selling illicit liquor at Nongstoin Market and recovered fifteen quarter bottles of IMFL and four syringes from his possession. Following this incident, Kharbani attempted to assault the members of Seng Longkmie with a broken bottle and threatened them with dire consequences.
