TURA: Around four houses sustained damage following a landslide at Supari Bagan area of Ananda Math behind Nataraj hotel in the heart of Tura bazaar on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:30 in the afternoon when tonnes of loose earth came crashing down onto houses that had come up close by. Among the four houses that were hit by the landslide, two were completely damaged, informed officials.

There was fortunately no loss of life but one woman sustained a minor injury during the mishap. Garo Hills, particularly Tura, has been experiencing widespread pre-monsoon showers for the last three months and a early Saturday morning shower may have added to the pressure on the soil which gave away in the afternoon.
