Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki was forced to abandon his trip to Parsi-Parlo, as his chopper had to return owing to poor visibility due to inclement weather condition.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Tourism Minister Pema Khandu, political secretary Bamang Tago and state Youth Congress president Tadar Niglar, was to inaugurate the newly created additional deputy commissioner (ADC) headquarters at Patuk, near Parsi Parlo, official sources said here.

He was also to join the Longte festival celebrations.

Tuki, along with his entourage, had boarded the Gobal-Vectra helicopter from Naharlagun, about 15 km from here, for proceeding towards Parsi-Parlo, remote part in Kurung Kumey district of the state.

The chopper had to return to base after making two attempts to cross the lofty hills but had to track back on the same course due to bad weather and extremely low visibility beyond Palin. The chopper had to fly above 8000 ft to come back to Naharlagun helipad as heavy clouds had engulfed the entire region within minutes, sources informed.

The state government, in a notification dated December 22, 2011, had created the new ADC headquarters at Patuk for administrative convenience of one of the remotest parts of the state.

The jurisdiction of the newly created ADC headquarters would include the circles of Parsi-Parlo, Damin, Tali and Pipsorang of Kurung Kumey district.

Wishing the people of Kurung Kumey, especially of the circles falling under the new ADC headquarters, on attaining the new administrative status, Tuki wished the people on celebration of Longte festival, which he was looking forward to celebrate by being among them.

Incidentally on May 4, 2011, former Arunachal chief minister Dorji Khandu died in a copter crash following an inclement weather. (UNI)
