SHILLONG: Following HNLC threat on non-tribals, including the residents of Harijan Colony last month, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Saturday said there should not be any fear psychosis among the people of Meghalaya as the government is trying every bid to fight militancy and to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
Tynsong, however, said that though the government cannot spell out everything as far as security is concerned, ‘Whatever threat is there, I want to say that the government machinery is on the job,” he added.
Tynsong said the people should not develop fear following the threat of the banned outfit issuing warning to non tribals, as the government is ready to face the challenge at any point of time.
Earlier, the HNLC had threatened to shoot up to 10 non tribals in a minute with their automatic assault if the police do not stop harassing their family members and sympathisers.
Soon after, the HNLC issued another warning where it threatened to take action against the people of Harijan Colony for giving deadline to the municipal board and the government to withdraw the notices for inventory served to them.
In the wake of warnings issued by the banned militant group Home Minister James Sangma said that the police department was doing everything in terms of protecting its citizens.
