SHILLONG: Healthcare services across Shillong city took a hit on Monday as OPDs in most of the city hospitals and clinics were shut following nationwide doctors’ strike  called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in solidarity with the protesting doctors in Kolkata.

OPD services in most of the private Hospitals besides the NEIGRIHMS  were shut following the strike but however emergency services remained functional  in all the hospitals.

The Government-owned Shillong Civil Hospital  however remained functional without any hiccups.

Similarly, some private clinics in the city were also closed and treatment was not available in those clinics and diagnostic centres.

The strike was called in protest against the recent assault on doctors in West Bengal.
