SHILLONG: The GNLA on Sunday came out in sharp criticism of a recent statement of ANVC (B) (breakaway group) which had blamed politicians, journalists and businessmen for involving with the outfit.

The GNLA also made it clear that they had no involvement with either politicians or media or businessmen and asked the ANVC (B) to stop the blame game.

In a statement issued to the media on Sunday, GNLA ‘foreign secretary’ Millam R Marak said that Bryan is indeed his original name and this is not the surname of the outfit’s ‘political secretary’ Bikdot Nikjang Marak as is being claimed by the ANVC (B).

“Why blame journalists as it is their duty to report what is given to them,” he added.

Every militant group issues statements to the media for wider dissemination, he said, adding that journalists should be allowed to carry out their duty.

“If the ANVC goes ahead with their threat, we will also not keep quiet,” Marak warned, adding that their threat was nothing new. “Let the Garo politicians and citizens work for the greater cause of Garoland,” he said. Marak also said that he had been entrusted to reach out to other outfits in the Northeast especially the Naga unification groups.

The GNLA also released the names of office bearers of the outfit which include ‘chairman’ Pakchara R Sangma (Champion), ‘vice chairman’ Mandai Marak, ‘c-in-c’ Wegara D Shira (Sohan D Shira), ‘personal secretaty to C-in-C’ Kakam D Shira, ‘deputy c-in-c’ Toding Ch. Marak, ‘general secretary’ Raka Marak, ‘organizing secretary’ Renggok K Sangma, ‘public relations secretary’ GN Marak, ‘finance secretary’ Jakpil T Sangma, ‘foreign secretary’ Millam R Marak, ‘cultural secretary’ Biginchi P Marak and ‘political secretary’ Bikdot Nikjang Marak.
