MAWKYRWAT: The Seng Samla Shnong Ranikor (SSSR) has expressed disappointment over the decision of the Syiem of Hima Maharam, Niandro Syiemiong for allegedly stopping the construction of Jio’s mobile tower on PWD’s land in Ranikor village, South West Khasi Hills.
This has caused much dismay to the people of the Indo-Bangla border who have desired to have mobile network in the region for more than a decade.
“The Seng Samla Shnong strongly opposes the decision of the Syiem for stopping the construction of the mobile tower which the area urgently needs since people in border areas were forced to use the mobile network from Bangladesh especially during urgent requirements,” President of the Seng Samla Shnong Ranikor, James Thongni said.
While criticising the Syiem of Hima Maharam for interfering into the construction of the tower, Thongni said, “As an honourable Syiem (king) of the Hima (kingdom), he should know that the people under his jurisdiction urgently need mobile network especially in this generation. Therefore he should not become a stumbling block to the needs of his people”.
The organisation requested the MLA, MDC and the Deputy Commissioner of SWKH to intervene into this matter so that it will ease the problems faced by the local people.
