Teachers’ body formed in SWKH

Shillong: Joint Action Committee of All Teacher’s Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) has petitioned MoS of Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on the need to bring Ad hoc schools under deficit pattern.
JACATAM has also taken up the matter with Chief Minister of Meghalaya regarding the upgradation of ad hoc schools to deficit system besides demanding equal pay for equal work.
The Ad hoc School Teachers’ Association of South West Khasi Hills district was also formed with its headquarters at Mawkyrwat.
The elected members are Working Sangriang as president, S Kharjahrin and Sukmynsiem Nongrem as vice- presidents among others.
General Secretary of JACATAM Kenneth Shadap was also present.
It was attended by teachers from lower primary to higher secondary.
The newly formed association wants to work to achieve their demand as given in the memorandum. Shadap said that he would not rest until their demands are fulfilled.
He added that the upgradation is not to deficit pattern as published in newspapers.
He also pointed out that the association has fought for deficit schools though the current government wished to enhance their dues.
He reiterated that the secondary school teachers has decided that the new association will work for the interest and benefit of the ad hoc school teachers.
