Laxity in Laitumkhrah

SHILLONG: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Executive Member in charge of Trade Paul Lyngdoh stressed on the cooperation of the Dorbar Shnong and the KHADC with regard to issue of trading license.
The Dorbar Shnong of Laitumkhrah Pyllun met Lyngdoh on Wednesday to place their grievances with regard to trading license in Laitumkhrah which is looked at as a favourable economic zone.
They wanted to seek clarity on the role of the Dorbar Shnong with regard to trading license.
Lyngdoh informed them that a manual of instruction will be prepared for the Dorbar Shnong for which directions will be laid down for issuing trading license by it.
He pointed to a specific case in Laitumkhrah wherein the Dorbar Shnong members informed him that the canteen at Nazareth Hospital is functioning without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Dorbar Shnong.
The canteen has been running its business for one year and maintained that it has obtained the municipal license.
Lyngdoh maintained that the municipal license relates to sanitation and has nothing to do with trade license.
He informed that the next course of action will be to verify the complaint against the canteen.
Non-tribal shops in Majai
With allegations that several numbers of non-tribal shops have come up in Majai, Lyngdoh said enforcement wing has been sent to Majai.
For inspection outside Shillong, he added that the enforcement wing conducts regular checking and are divided into two zones and will intensify their checking.
