SHILLONG: The Advisory Committee on Legislation and Legal Issue (ACLLI) of the KHADC and Federation of Khasi State (FKS) on Friday discussed the Instrument of Accession (IOA) and Annexed Agreement (AA) as tools to protect the identity of the Khasi community in a meeting at Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar.
There were discussions on the agreement as the Khasi community has been facing problems with regard to land, major and minor resources, problems of traditional institutions and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB).
“If the FKS is recognised as one of the organisations of Khasi Hima, it would provide as a strong base upon which issues of the community can be addressed,” chairman of the committee, who is also the Chairman of the KHADC, PN Syiem said.
He added that the meeting was held to strengthen the FKS adding the committee will reach out to every Hima to highlight the importance of IOA and AA.
