Office observes Nat’l Statistics Day in WKH

NONGSTOIN: The office of the District Statistical Officer, West Khasi Hills (WKH) in collaboration with Nongstoin College, Nongstoin on Saturday observed the National Statistics Day 2019 under the theme ‘Sustainable Development Goal’.
The programme was organised at the conference Hall Nongstoin College where the Additional Deputy Commissioner, WKH, AVD Shira graced the ocassion as Chief Guest in the presence of I Mawthoh, Principal Of Nongstoin College, CD Buam District Statistical Officer, South West Khasi Hills, Mawkyrwat, AS Dohling, Inspector of Statistic among others.
Speaking on the ocassion, Shira said that in every field we need statistics as it is a means to inform data correctly. She expressed disappointed over women lieracy rate in WKH. According to her findings, in WKH men have higher literacy rate in comparison to women.
She inspired the women to improve their education and work hard for their future generations. She encouraged that girls’ status should be increased from now on.
District Statistical Officer of Mawkyrwat briefed about the 17 goals of the theme which included ‘Zero hunger’, ‘Good Health and Well-being’, ‘Quality Education, Gender Equality’, ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’, ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’, ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’, ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’, ‘Reducing Inequality’ and ‘No poverty’.
