B’desh group backs film maker

SHILLONG: Andrew Sholomar , son of late Paiem Wickliff Syiem, Syiem of Hima Nongstoin who currently resides in Bangladesh, was in Shillong on Friday to extend support to the makers of the upcoming movie titled Dhaka Escape.
Sholomar is the finance secretary of Bangladesh Indigenous People Forum and president of Khasi Welfare Association of Bangladesh.
“We are ready to support the film if they come to shoot in Bangladesh as the Khasi film industry has to be improved,” he said.
He also added that the Khasis in Bangladesh will be overjoyed if Khasi films are shot in Bangladesh.
Sholomar led a team of Khasis residing in Bangladesh to the auditions for the movie held at Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar, Shillong.
Meanwhile, the director of the movie, Ban Lyngba, said that the movie will be shot in Kolkata and Dhaka which is the capital of Bangladesh.
