SHILLONG: The Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has decided to form a committee headed by MDC Bindo Lanong as chairman to follow up on the pending Bills of the KHADC. Speaking to reporters on Monday, KHADC CEM Teinwell Dkhar informed that there are 39-40 Bills passed by the KHADC since 2000 that are lying either with the District Council Affairs (DCA) department or with the office of the Governor. “It is a special committee that will be set up to follow up on the Bills pending with the government and the office of the Governor,” he said adding that the committee will be formed in the coming week. He said the Land Bill is the need of the hour while the Clan Bill is also important. He also said the Khasi Lineage Act needs to be examined thoroughly.
It may be mentioned that Lanong was a former deputy chief minister in charge of the Law department.
