SHILLONG: AICC president Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal for appointment of Chief Minister DD Lapang as the MPCC president with immediate effect.
In a statement issued here on Friday, AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said that the Congress president has approved the appointment of Lapang as the State party chief.
When contacted, MPCC working president Deborah C Marak said that he (Lapang) would be taking over as the new MPCC president on Saturday.
