80 trained youth to take up jobs in B’lore

 Shillong: The skills development section of the Infrastructure Leasing and Development Services (IL&FS), has completed the livelihood skills training of 80 candidates on Friday.

The 80 trained youth include 10 from 5th batch, IL&FS Skills School, Barapani, 29 from 1st batch, IL&FS Skills School, Mawthadraishan and 41 from 1st batch IL&FS Skills School, Rimrangpara. The trained youth are traveling to Bangalore City to Join DTSS – a reputed Facility Management Company as House Keeping staff.

So far more than 250 youth from the three SDTCs in Meghalaya are skilled and are being placed in reputed organized sector companies with salaries ranging from a minimum of Rs 4,500 to Rs 10,000 per month along with other amenities like free accommodation/ Assistance and Canteen facilities, PF, Gratuity, Medical etc.

Trainees with average educational qualification of Class VIII passed (Minimum Class V passed) and with no exposure to the organized job sector have been placed with jobs in organizations like Sodexo International, Specialty Restaurants (Mainland China), UDS Facilities, DTSS, Pride Group of Hotels, Club Mahindra etc in cities like Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coorg, Pune etc.

IL&FS Cluster Development Initiative Ltd is one of the largest Skill Development Company in the country which works in tandem with the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). Under the ‘Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna’ (SGSY), a Special Placement linked Skill Development Training Project has been created in each of the North Eastern states of India.

In Meghalaya the IL&FS is working with the Department of Community & Rural Development, Government of Meghalaya, and has opened three ‘Skill Development Training Centers (SDTC)’ in the State.

The first SDTC called the “IL&FS Skills School” was set up at Pyllun Village, Ri Bhoi district 4 Kms away from the Umiam Lake, and 19 Kms away from Shillong. At this centre, Skills for Employment for Services Sector (SESS) course was launched for the unemployed, rural Below Poverty Line (BPL) youths.

To intensify the reach and further scale up the skills development intervention within the state, two more IL&FS Skills Schools were subsequently opened, one at Mawthadraishan BDO office premises, West Khasi Hills and the other at St. Mathews Church at Rimrangpara, West Garo Hills.

In a month long training on Facility Management Services (FMS) and Hospitality basics, the candidates are also trained to improve their personal effectiveness, basic workplace English, grooming skills and are imparted industry specific knowledge with the help of Multimedia lessons and simulation exercises. After the successful completion of the course job interviews are arranged with partnership from the Industry.
