SHILLONG: A foreigner who illegally took the clan name of Dkhar was summoned by the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) of Amlarem Sub Division.
In a statement issued here, the Seiñ Kur Dkhar Wapung Circle, East Jaintia Hills said that the illegal immigrant identified as Jagir Dkhar also obtained an EPIC showing his residence as Mupyut in West Jaintia Hills.
The Dkhar clan has condemned the act wherein a foreigner can randomly take the surnames of indigenous Jaintia communities.
In this connection, the Seiñ Kur Dkhar Wapung Circle expressed gratitude to the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) of Amlarem Sub Division who took the initiative to summon the accused on June 29 along with the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), War Jaintia Circle for lodging the complaint with the SDO.
