SHILLONG: The Tirot Sing Syiemlieh Death Anniversary Committee, Hima Nongkhlaw will observe the 184th death anniversary of Tirot Sing Syiem – Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw – on July 17 in Nongkhlaw.
PHE Minister Samlin Malniang will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Other highlights of the day will be performances of traditional songs, dramas, skits, archery and others.
Tirot Sing Syiem is regarded by the Khasi community as a chief who fought against the British army. He died on July 17, 1835 and his death anniversary is observed as a state holiday every year.
