Spring beach festival

 NONGSTOIN: With a view to promote tourism in the State, particularly in West Khasi Hills District, the Mawkyrwat Sub-Division Officers Welfare Association (MSDOWA) organized a one day Spring Beach Festival on Saturday at Moilam-Balat where over two thousand people from across the State participated.

The Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Health and Family Welfare Mr Rowell Lyngdoh was the chief guest at the inaugural function in presence of the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills District S.Kharlyngdoh IAS, the Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Mawkyrwat Sub Division K.L.Nongbri MCS, the Syiem of Maharam Syiemship N.Syiemiong and a host of officers.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that West Khasi Hills District particularly the river beach of Moilam–Balat area is also one of tourist destinations in our state.

He therefore, urged upon the people to preserve the beauty of the area by keeping its surrounding clean so that tourists from outside would love to visit this place. He also expressed that the Government through the Tourism Department was trying to tap the tourism potentiality in the state because tourism is one of the sectors that can bring in social life and boost up the economy of the people.
