SHILLONG: The All Garo Hills Muster Roll Workers’ Union has raised questions on subjecting Muster roll workers to the transfer rules (executive directions) made applicable for non-gazetted forest field staff.
In a statement issued here recently, the general secretary of the union, CM Sangma said that it is beyond comprehension as to how an IFS officer of the level of Divisional Forest Officer can treat a muster roll worker at par with the executive field staff or non-gazetted staff of the state government.
The union has also petitioned the Conservator of Forests (WL and T), Garo Hills Region, Tura on a similar matter – wherein the DFO of Tura Sachin Gavade projected the muster roll workers as equivalent to the non-gazatted field staff.
Sangma asserted that Gavade has displayed his lack of understanding of the provisions of the Meghalaya Casual Workers’ Scheme, 1996.
