SHILONG: Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong has assured that construction of a bridge across Khasimara river in Mawsynram will be taken up under a World Bank project.
Tynsong’s assurance came after Mawsynram MLA HM Shangpliang along with the headmen of the villages affected by the recent  flood and rain informed him on Monday that several roads including that in Mawsun, have been disconnected with the rest of the constituency for the past many days. Talking to media persons after the meeting, Shangpliang said that these roads are the lifeline of 40-45 villages and stressed on the need for the government to ensure that the villages do not get disconnected every year. He also said that the road along the international border from Dangar till Ryngku has been badly damaged and some portions of the road have been washed away. “We have stressed on the need for early restoration of the road as it is an international road and involves the security of the country,” he said while informing that following the damage to the road, the BSF personnel were finding it difficult to patrol the border
