SHILLONG: Dhyanada Charan Sharma was a man of great knowledge. His versatility had not only impacted the lives of relatives and friends but also people who were not close to the family and this was because Sharma could mix with any crowd and talk about any topic, Siddhartha Sharma said on Saturday while describing his father.
Siddhartha was speaking at a function held at Laban Namghar which was organised on the occasion of the release of the book Dhyanada Charan Sharma: The person and his oeuvre.
It is a compilation of writings on Sharma and personal accounts.
Former governor of Meghalaya RS Mooshahary, while talking about his association with Sharma, said they would meet during festivals and gradually became friends.
He added that like the soul never dies, Sharma would be remembered for his good deeds and deep knowledge.
MLA Sanbor Shullai, who was among the guests, said he would soon meet Sharma’s family members to discuss his plan to unveil a bust of the great personality.
Sharma was a journalist who later joined government service in the Assam Secretariat in 1948. He was also part of ASEB and NEEPCO. He passed away in March last year at the age of 91.
