NIT starts month-long induction event

SHILLONG: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya has started its month-long induction event for the newly admitted students across different programmes on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the inauguration of the said event known as ‘Orientation Programme’ was conducted. Director, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, other allied authorities and faculty members were present with the newly admitted students and their guardians.
During his address to the students, Director of NIT Meghalaya BB Biswal explained the importance of discipline by students during their stay in the institute. He also encouraged students for optimum utilisation of the existing infrastructure of the institute for their growth and success.
The Dean of Research & Consultancy, A Bhattacharjee briefed about the utility of the world bank project to the institute for the benefit of the students.
Dean of Student’s Welfare, A Banerjee placed before the students what they will undergo for the next one month. Dean of Academic Affairs G Panda, Dean of Faculty Welfare HC Das and Dean of Planning & Development DK Sarma also provided them with valuable guidance.
Chief Warden S Mukherjee and President, SAC, PN Chatterjee also made them aware of the facilities in their respective domain. They were also familiarised with their respective department by the concerned faculty advisor. There was also a meet with the parents and guardians of the new students.
