Khasi novel ‘Ale Noh Baieit’ released

 SHILLONG: Former Member of Parliament, Dr BR Kharlukhi on Saturday released a Khasi Novel-‘Ale Noh Baieit’ meaning ‘Oh, Come my Beloved’ written by a Professor of the Khasi Department, NEHU MB Jyrwa at the Presbyterian Church of India (PIC) Conference Hall.

Grading the book as an intellectual piece of literature, Dr Kharlukhi said this book is not meant for light read by ordinary people.

Dr Kharlukhi said this novel has shown the cultural resemblance between the Khasi Pnar communities and the Jewish people.

He also said the high quality novel ‘Ale Noh Baieit’ written in Khasi Pnar language could be translated into English for getting constitutional recognition for the Khasi Language, as one of the recognized languages of India.

The book was released in the presence of Rev MJ Hynniewta of John Roberts’ Theological Seminary at Mawklot, littérateurs, university students, relatives, friends and well-wishers.
