Office bearers
The Jaintia Coal Miners and Dealer’s Association (JCMDA) held a meeting at the Community Hall of Khliehriat West in East Jaintia Hills recently in which office bearers were elected for the tenure of 2019-2022 with Jointriwell Pyrtuh as the new president, Thomas Nongtdu and Defender Paken as vice presidents, Shanbor Lamare as the general secretary and Justine Dkhar as the joint secretary. MLAs Kyrmen Shylla and Shitlang Pale were given the posts of honorary advisers with Sonny L Khyriem as the chief honorary adviser. The Dolois and MDCs of East Jaintia Hills agreed to play the roles of ex-officio members. Zonal organisers and 22 other members were also inducted.
Fee for cremation
The executive Committee of Gorkha Samshan Ghat Barapathar, Mawbah, has fixed the cremation charge at Rs 3000 per corpse with effect from August 5 to August 19 until further notice. Wood for cremation is now available at Ghat as well.
