Agartala: AICC general secretary Luizinho Faleiro on Sunday said that Congress would storm back to power in Tripura riding on the people’s strength.
Faleiro, while addressing a mammoth rally at Pragati School Ground here came down heavily on the CPM-led Left Front government for rampant corruption, nepotism and total lawlessness in the state.
He said the CPM has installed one-sided rule in Tripura undermining the democratic values by way of using money power and muscle strength.
“BPL population in the state still stands at 67 per cent despite the fact that there were 16 flagship programmes to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people. The figure of BPL population reflects the misuse of Central government funds under different flagship programmes like MGNREGA and Right to Education Act,” he said.
Citing instance of backwardness during the Leftist regime, Faleiro said, “Of the total 8682 villages, residents of 2877 hamlets are denied of drinking water facilities while 1513 villages are yet to have road connectivity.”
“When you people are living in the ocean of poverty, CPM leaders are staying in the islands of prosperity,” he lamented. On the law and order situation, he alleged Tripura has a bad reputation of rape capital of India due to hostile atrocities or discrimination towards women and girls.
Giving vocal tonic to the leaders and workers who came in strong number to listen to their leaders, Faleiro said, “Don’t loss hope. Congress will come back to power with the blessing of the God as well people and bring new winds of development in the state,” he said.
Noting that the PCC would submit charge sheet before the people’s court against the Left Front government for his total misrule, Faleiro stated people are determined to uproot the Marxist government in the 2013 Assembly elections.
The former Goa Chief Minister has also words for quarrelsome PCC leaders to lead the party to much awaited victory. “The time has come to fight together against the misrule of the Left Front in the battle of ballots scheduled for early next year,” he said.
West Bengal Irrigation Minister Manash Bhuiyan, PCC president Sudip Roy Barman, CLP leader Ratan Lal Nath and former PCC president Surajit Dutta also spoke at the rally.
