SHILLONG: In yet another delay to the Kolkata Meghalaya House project, the independent technical committee which was setup to screen the revised estimated budget missed its March deadline for submission of the report.

The State Government had constituted the committee after the estimated budget for the Meghalaya House escalated from the initial Rs 24 crore to Rs 50 crore.

GAD minister AL Hek while reacting to the delay said that the committee has not communicated anything to the department on the delay. “They have not given the reason for the delay but I have asked them to submit the report at the earliest,” Hek added.

The independent committee is headed by the chief engineer of the water resources department as the chairman besides five other members. It may be mentioned that the State Government last year had claimed that the proposed building would be inaugurated in the month of December. But till date nothing has materialised.
