Bombs hurled; church elder hurt in stone pelting incident

 SHILLONG: The three agitating NGOs (KSU, FKJGP and HNYF) will meet on Thursday to decide their future course of action even as several stray incidents took place across the State during road blockade on Wednesday night.

“We are going to meet tomorrow to decide on our future course of action,” KSU general secretary Augester Jyrwa said here on Wednesday.

The three NGOs have called the three-night road blockade from Monday last in protest against the alleged inclusion of voters with “dubious” origin in the State’s electoral rolls.

Meanwhile, a petrol bomb was hurled on a tourist taxi (Santro -ML-05 H 8750) at Lailad Nongmynsong between 9-45pm to 10pm on Wednesday.

In another incident, miscreants lobbed two petrol bombs at Butcher Compound opposite Hindu Mission campus in Mawprem.

“Fortunately the bombs did not explode,” police said.

Miscreants lobbed another petrol bomb at the residents of the hawkers at Mawbah Lumphyrnia near a school in Jhalupara at around 10.30 pm.

Incidents of tyres burning were reported from Nongmynsong area.

Miscreants pelted stones on the three night buses at a place near Lumshnong in Jaintia Hills district.A church elder, who was accompanying a delegation of the Presbyterian Church, who were on their way to attend the general conference of Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) to be held at Mizoram, was injured in the incident.
