Two killed in stone quarry

JOWAI: A 55-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man identified as Sumarbha Lipon and Meker Lipon died on the spot after being hit by a rock while both were working in a stone quarry at Pynthotlangtein village in West Jaintia Hills (WJH) on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident took place around noon while both were still busy extracting stone when suddenly a large rock fell off the hillock and crushed the two. Jowai Police have conducted an enquiry and found that there is no foul play but a case of accident.
