Shopping fair sees large footfall

SHILLONG: The ongoing 14th International Shillong Shopping Carnival organised by ITFAA in association with the Government of Meghalaya and National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) is attracting a large number of people since August 22 when it opened.
The fair will continue till September 4, a release issued here informed.
The shopping carnival at Madan Iew Rynghep, Laitumkhrah, showcases imported furniture, accessories, food items, exotic textiles, automobiles, footwear, local products from Northeastern states, toys, home appliances, health products, decorative items, books, jewelleries, watches and other merchandises
Thailand, Bangladesh and Afghanistan stalls are a big draw.
The event also marks the maiden participation of tribal artisans under the banner of National Small Industries Corporation Limited’s Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Hub for their quality, variety and uniqueness.
The carnival also features “Dus Ka Dum”, a lucky draw contest on entry tickets, which offer ten attractive prizes including a two-wheeler, refrigerator and television.
The carnival also showcases handmade products and posh blankets.
A participant of the National Small Industries Corporation Limited pavilion, Silda Thapa, has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their products on a platform with such potential, the release informed.
