TURA: The villagers of Ashugre and its surrounding areas in West Garo Hills have alleged the illegal appointment of an Assistant Teacher at Ashugre Deficit Upper Primary School.
They claim that qualified local candidates who wanted to apply were turned away by the school authorities.
A complaint in this regard was submitted to the District School Education Officer (DSEO).
“The local candidates who had approached the school to apply for the post had B Ed as well as DIET, which was the criteria according to advertisement in local dailies.
However, their applications were rejected by the school despite all the required criteria being fulfilled,” the villagers said in their complaint.
The villagers while pointing out that gross manipulation of the given norms has taken place in appointing the teacher, they demanded that the appointment is kept in abeyance for the time being. A fresh advertisement should be given for the said post as per NCTE norms and that preference during appointment should be given to an eligible local candidate, they stated.
