Scholarship for IAS aspirants launched

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma launched the Chief Minister’s Civil Services Fellows, a scholarship worth Rs 1 crore for 100 youths on Thursday.The programme has created an opportunity for talented IAS aspirants of Meghalaya to undergo free of cost coaching from ALS IAS.
ALS IAS which is India’s largest IAS coaching network has more than 75 centers across India including 30 in North East along with 2837 selections in UPSC till date including 154 selections last year.
National Sales Head ALS, Prateek Bhattacharya also announced scholarship worth Rs 1 crore for 265 aspirants under ALS CSR Initiative for Youths of Meghalaya.
The announcement has created an opportunity for 365 aspirants of the state to avail the scholarship.
Chief Minister also mentioned that the selection of the 100 students will be based on Meghalaya Reservation Roster List that is to give equal opportunity to students from Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills.
The exam will be conducted on September 15 in all district headquarters of Meghalaya under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of each district.
Application forms will be available from September 4 in all DC’s office with last date of submission on September 12.
Results of the exam will be generated on September 22 and batches will commence from September 30.
Students selected from Khasi/Jaintia Hills will undergo their IAS training at ALS IAS Shillong whereas students from Garo Hills will undergo training at ALS IAS Tura via cutting edge VSAT Technology where LIVE transmission of classes being conducted in ALS Delhi campus will be given.
Academic Mentors from Delhi will also be sent by ALS to Meghalaya to monitor, motivate and guide the students during their training along with monthly visits which will be made by IAS/IPS officers serving in Meghalaya to inspire the candidates.
ALS hopes that this path breaking initiative taken by the Chief Minister will be able to transform the youths of Meghalaya and produce results in Civil Services in the coming years.
