SHILLONG: Rubbishing the claim of BJP about the exodus of Congress legislators, the Congress has reiterated that all the 19 Congress legislators are united. All
BJP leader and Cabinet Minister A L Hek had said at least eight Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP.
However, the Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma said on Saturday that the statement of the BJP leader is just a claim and asserted that the CLP is united.
“We are in touch with all our 19 MLAs and we have verified the matter. What we can say is all are united and intact”, Zenith said.
According to Zenith, the political parties are free to make their claims about the exodus of MLAs and such unfounded claims were also made in the past.
The Congress leader said the intention of the BJP and others is to create confusion in the minds of the legislators.
“The parties are creating confusion in the minds of the legislators and their ultimate intention is to sow the seeds of disunity”, Zenith said.
Besides the BJP, the NPP had also claimed in the past about some Congress legislators approaching the party.
For a merger with any political party, the Congress needs 13 MLAs which will be two-third of the 19-member CLP.
