Agartala: The leading environmental advocacy group of Tripura, ARPAN held a demonstration here and national capital on Saturday evening seeking attention of the Central Government and the international community to undertake effective steps to stop fire in Amazon rainforest and compensate the global environmental loss caused due to inaction of Brazil Government.
The activists of ARPAN along with their family and children besides, leading journalists, academicians and environmentalists demonstrated in front of historical Ujjayanta palace with colourful placards and festoons raising voice against Amazon fire and more effective actions to protect the environment and natural resources.
The activists of ARPAN hold a similar demonstration on the street in front of Delhi National Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, ARPAN executives alleged that international community has not yet come out vigorously to stop the fire spread in Amazon Rainforest, which used to supply at least 20 per cent Oxygen of the daily requirement of the living beings across the globe.
The Amazon has been burning for the last 23 days that has already increased the level of Carbon di-oxide to 140 million tones in global atmosphere besides, eradicating nearly a hundred of flora and fauna species from earth. (UNI)
