Central Team to visit the flood affected areas of Assam

GUWAHATI: An Inter-Ministerial Team of Government of India has reached Assam  on Tuesday to visit and assess the worst  flood-affected areas during the last spell of flood in the State this year.

After a brief meeting with the senior officials of Assam Government on the damage and loss of the human lives and property of various departments, the team will leave for their field visit in concerned districts on 4th September 2019.

The team will visit the districts viz. Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Morigaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Dibrugarh for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the wake of floods in 2019 in the state. During their visit, the team will interact and discuss with the respective district administration and other concerned departmental officials of the visiting districts. They will leave for New Delhi on September 6, 2019.

The team comprised of the following members – Ajay Gangwar (team leader) , advisor (Ops), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), New Delhi, SB Tiwari, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Jintu Das, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmer Welfare,  Rajib Das, Assistant Director, Ministry of Power, Amarnath Singh, Director, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi, V.D. Roy, Superintendent Engineer, Ministry of Jal Shakti, CWC, Guwahati and Sachin Kr. Gautam, Executive Engineer, Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway.
