SHILLONG The High Court of Meghalaya has issued notice to state government and others for the election of UDP MDC FInelyness Bareh as the new chairman of JHADC after a case was filed by the Opposition Congress MDC Andrew Shullai against the decision.
After the hearing on Thursday, the court of Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal issued the notice and the next hearing will be on September 17. The petitioner is of the view that the election of the new chairman of JHADC was conducted without the approval of the Governor.
According to the petitioner, the governor had only summoned a special session and there was no direction to hold the election to replace UDP member Lakhon Biam who had defected to the BJP along with three others.
