Teachers’ body helps orphanage

SHILLONG: A delegation comprising members of the All Primary School Teachers’ Association (APSTA) recently visited NEIMA children’s home in Pynursla and donated utensils and study materials to the children there in the run up to the 170th death anniversary of Christian missionary Thomas Jones who is also known as the father of the Khasi alplabet.
The delegation was led by APSTA general secretary FC Shulai, who was accompanied by APSTA vice president T War along with members of APSTA, Pynursla unit and office bearers of NEIMA.
The chairman of NEIMA lauded the initiative taken by the association and informed that the orphanage currently houses 50 girls and 33 boys out of which three are in the after care unit.
“Prior to observing the death anniversary of Thomas Jones, the association has always tried to lend a helping hand to different groups throughout the years irrespective of religion and beliefs,” said APSTA general secretary FC Shulai.
The editor of Rupang, RM shabong, who was present as the chief guest, lauded the association and encouraged the members to remain united in their noble cause.
