Agartala: Leader of opposition in Tripura Ratan Lal Nath has urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to initiate steps to investigate the issue of movement of criminals between the two states.

In a letter to Ms Banerjee, Nath alleged that a former minister in the Left Front government and sitting MLA, charged with several crimes, had taken shelter in Tripura soon after the new government came to power in West Bengal.

”The accused person is not attending the maiden assembly session in that state and is not available in his locality during the past one and half months,” Nath said in the letter.

He alleged that the LF government in Tripura had provided the MLA shelter in Agartala, along with a few other left supported criminals.

He also said about a hundred criminals from West Bengal had taken shelter in different parts of Tripura. (UNI)
