Shifting of Polytechnic college to Gasuapara

SHILLONG: Bakdil KRIMKRO has knocked on the door of High Court of Meghalaya to challenge the work of the government /department regarding the shifting of Polytechnic College from Kapasipara to Gasuapara and the illegal and unofficial construction of the college.
The organisation has filed a writ petition on Tuesday in the High Court through Advocate Pilan T. Sangma to seek justice.
In a statement issued here, the president of KRIMKRO, Tangbath M. Sangma asserted that despite repeated press releases and incessant requests through series of letters to the Education Department-Higher and Technical Education, Chief Minister and other members in the ministry, the construction of Polytechnic College was illegally shifted from Kapasipara to Gasuapara.
The final work order was also allotted to Ruthilla R. Marak, the wife of Baghmara MLA Samuel M. Sangma. The work value is Rs 7, 19, 52,340.
Sangma added that although the construction work started stealthily without laying the foundation stone publicly, the land does not belong to the government.
He sought the intervention of the High Court to stay the ongoing illegal construction at Gasuapara,” he said.
Public meeting
In order to share information about the petition and chalk out their next strategy and discuss other social issues, KRIMKRO will conduct a public meeting with the residents from Sibbari to Telekali village areas at Kapasipara Deficit UP School on September 26 around 2:30 p.m.
