SHILLONG: A stall owner of Laitumkhrah municipal market, who is running his business from the stall with a valid license issued by the Shillong Muncipality was aggrieved by the insistence of the District Council to obtain a trading license compelling him to file a writ petition before the Meghalaya High Court.
The matter came up for hearing on September 19 before Justice H S Thangkhiew.
Considering the importance of the case about the administrative
jurisdiction of the council over the municipal area and the law laid down in this connection by Supreme Court, the case has been directed to be placed before the Chief Justice for taking it up by the larger bench.
