London: Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am has reportedly been approached by NASA (National Aeronautics Space Administration) to produce an exclusive track to be played during a future Mars mission.

The song by the Black Eyed Peas frontman would be broadcast back to mission control according to reports, reported Sun Online.

“Will has a natural affiliation with NASA and even name checked them on his single ‘T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)’. He’s always keen to get involved in their projects and this was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down. “NASA feel Will is the ideal figure to appeal to a mainstream audience and promote their technologies,” a source said. The tune is likely to be a bonus track on his upcoming album ‘willpower’ and the deal would make history as it is believed to be the first of its kind.

The 37-year-old has previously worked with the US space agency to promote science to young people on micro-blogging website twitter. The singer has also done a public service announcement on NASA’s TV channel. He will apparently begin work on the musical number once his television commitments on the BBC1 talent show have ended.
