HYC meets SWKH DC

Mawkyrwat: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Ranikor Circle met South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo on Wednesday to apprise her of the non-performance of the present pharmacist at Community Health Centre (CHC) Ranikor. They also demanded that a new pharmacist should be appointed to benefit the people.
President of HYC Ranikor Circle, Kyrmen K Ryja said that the council received many complaints from the local people that the pharmacist did not attend office for many years now.
“This has created problems to the people who visit the CHC because they do not get medicines from the hospital and have to buy it from outside,” Ryja said.
Absence of Range officer
The president also said that HYC had also demanded to transfer the Range Officer of the Border Area Soil & Conservation Range, Ranikor alleging that the officer attended office only twice or thrice in a year and this has made the public suffer.
They also made the DC aware that there is lack of manpower in the office and no electricity.
Mobile tower issues
The council also requested the DC to intervene about the danger posed by the mobile tower at Nongnah village to the nearby houses as the foundation of the tower was eroded by water.
“The tower was earlier used by Aircel but after it was closed down no one is taking care of the tower and now it has posed as a danger to the houses near the tower,” he said.
Influx problem
Ryja added that HYC also demanded from the DC to be strict in issuing EPIC and Aadhaar card to non-tribals and those from outside the district especially after the NRC list was published.
He also informed that the DC assured the HYC leaders that she will take up the issues seriously.
