SHILLONG: The non-union members of GVK EMRI 108 have denied that they were pressurised by the management to form another union and meet Health Minister AL HEK to demand for continuation of their services, a press release issued here on Saturday said.
The statement said that the reason that prompted them to meet the minister was a news report which stated that the government may terminate their services. “Worried about our job, family and public, the non-union staff decided to hear from the government itself whether the news was true or not”, a non-union staff Peter Nongkhlaw said.
Clarifying that there is no other union except the MEMRIWU and the management has no part in their meeting with the minister, the staff asked the government to hike their salary and release their pending arrears. “We also request the government not to terminate our services,” the statement said.
They also asked the union leaders not to make public such rumours and mislead other field staffs.
