SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association (MVSA), on the occasion of World Rabies Day 2019, organised awareness programmes on rabies including anti-rabies vaccination drives and quiz competitions for students across the state on Saturday.
The programmes centered on the theme ‘vaccinate to eliminate’.
World Rabies Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to highlight the progress in defeating the disease. The day also marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur’s death, a French chemist and microbiologist who developed the first rabies vaccine.
A number of pet lovers also took part in the different programmes in an effort to spread awareness on the necessity of getting their pets vaccinated.
