Landslide cuts off Nagaland

Kohima: The area at the old KMC dumping site near Sesu-Zubza area of Kohima district along National Highway-29 continues to remain blocked as a result of heavy landsides, affecting vehicular movement and creating shortage of vegetables, fish, eggs and other commodities. NH 29 is the lifeline for Nagaland and Manipur since all essential commodities including motor fuel for both the states are transported along the road. The trucks carrying commodities have been left stranded at Peducha Check Gate and Khuzama Check Gate on the highway since October 6. Movement of heavy vehicles has come to a complete halt, but light vehicles are being diverted through an alternative route despite the tireless efforts put in by the PWD (NH) division to restore the Dimapur-Kohima road.
