Guwahati: A powerful IED weighing around 3.5 kg, meant to be planted either here or in Goalpara town, was seized from two ULFA linkmen who were arrested on the Assam-Meghalaya border in Goalpara district on Monday.

The linkmen Dilung alias Dilam Marak alias Bipimom Marak (30) and Jyoticharan Boro were arrested from the remote Landakunda area on the border which is close to Bangladesh, Goalpara ASP (headquarters) Susanta Biswa Sarma said.

Apart from the IED which was defused by the Army’s Bomb Defusal Squad, a remote control device and a bomb-making manual were also recovered, Sarma, who led the operation, said.

The duo are believed to be close to Drishti Rajkhowa, a close aide of anti-talk faction leader Paresh Baruah, he said. (PTI)
