SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya on Monday directed the Vigilance Officer, NEIGRIHMS to take a decision on the representation of the proprietor of Sanjo Medical, Sanibha Khonglamet who filed a case.
Earlier on April 30 last, while the NEIGRIHMS director D M Thappa had confiscated stents brought to NEIGRIHMS claiming that they were sold at exorbitant rates, the proprietor had said they were legally procured.
The petitioner approached the court by way of the writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution challenging the ‘illegal’ seizure of her medical items, materials, equipment, medicines and others by the Vigilance Officer, NEIGRIHMS. The counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had filed a representation on August 18 to the Vigilance Officer but no decision has been taken on it so far.
The counsel stated that though there were other points in the petition, the petitioner is restricting her case only to take a decision on her representation regarding seizure of medical items.
The court after hearing the counsel for the parties, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the controversy, disposed of the writ petition by directing NEIGRIHMS to take a decision on the representation within two weeks by passing an order after affording opportunity of hearing to the petitioner in accordance with law.
