TURA: The Anti Corruption and Human Development Organization (ACHDO) from Garo Hills has sought the blacktopping of the four-kilometre stretch of road that connects AMPT Road (Gini Mill, Phulbari) to the PWD Road at Charbatapara.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the organisation stated that the road is essential to the region as many people from villages like Bholarbita, Bangalkata, Borsibanda, Moulakandi, Haribanga, Charbatapara and others prefer the route to go to Phulbari due to the extremely pitiable condition of the AMPT Road.
“This road which is preferred by the people is very difficult to pass through during the rainy season as it gets very muddy.
Some parts of the road have also been eroded in the recent floods and are in need of repairs.
Besides, blacktopping of the road would also save time and money for the villagers as it is much shorter,” ACHDO said.
The organisation also informed that portions of the Moulakandi PWD road is in need of immediate repairs and urged the government to constitute a committee to conduct a survey of all PWD village roads and initiate repairs, wherever necessary.
